The Client

The Client is a leading investment firm specializing in deep value, credit-intensive strategies, caters to endowments, foundations, pension funds, and other institutional investors. Their diverse portfolio spans distressed loans, corporate bonds, securitized assets, and more.

Challenges Faced by the Client

While managing a diverse portfolio of internal and external web applications and APIs, our client encounters inefficiencies and risks due to their current manual deployment process. Reliant on Team Foundation Server (TFS) for version control and deploying via IIS instances spread across on-premises environments, their approach suffers from several limitations. Primarily, the manual nature introduces errors and consumes valuable time, hindering overall productivity. Additionally, maintaining consistent configurations across various environments proves challenging, while the absence of automated backups and rollbacks amplifies deployment risks. Addressing these critical issues would not only streamline their development life cycle but also ensure efficient and reliable deployments.

Solutions

UB Technology Innovations Inc., with certified and experienced professionals in Azure DevOps service, streamlined the firm’s processes. We implemented a DevOps pipeline leveraging Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices:

  • Continuous Integration (CI) Pipeline in Azure DevOps:
    • We propose automating the development process through a robust CI pipeline. When developers check in their code, the pipeline will automatically trigger builds and run tests. This ensures that the code adheres to quality standards before moving forward.
    • By streamlining the CI process, we reduce manual intervention and enhance collaboration among developers.
  • Continuous Deployment (CD) Pipeline to IIS Servers:
    • Our CD pipeline will seamlessly deploy tested and validated projects to the IIS servers. This automation eliminates the need for manual deployment steps.
    • Configuration management becomes more straightforward as consistent settings can be maintained across different environments.
  • Conflict Resolution:
    • Merging conflicts between individual developers’ code can be challenging. With our CI/CD implementation, conflicts are addressed promptly, fostering smoother collaboration.

Developers can focus on writing code rather than dealing with manual deployment intricacies.
