hospitals spread across the USA.
Challenges Faced by the Client
Our customer has been facing on managing the report’s front. It was an uphill task for them to generate reports because each hospital had its own systems and data sources. The hospitals also used different analytics platforms to create reports, adding complexity.
Solutions
Our customer contacted us for our Power BI reporting services to completely automate the reports from the data. The
report formats were several types, including Dashboards, Charts. Being a known leader in the Healthcare industry, we
started by analyzing and reviewing their business needs and existing reports, which covered the following aspects:
- Legal
- Quality
- Financial
- Operations
- Service Excellence
- Pay-for-performance
- Materials and Facility Management
- Different reporting platforms by each hospital
- Multiple Data Sources
- Inconsistent Data Formats
- Inability to consolidate and automate their reports resulted in excessive hours spent manually addressing inconsistencies
Our proposed solution is to replicate, consolidate, and automate the existing reports in a single platform – Power BI.
We started with a PoC (Proof of Concept) to develop only the operations reports for one of their hospitals. As a Microsoft Power BI-partner with extensive knowledge of Healthcare KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), we developed the data report in a very short turn-around time by completing the PoC successfully on time and quality. The operations report included the essential metrics such as Admissions, Diversion Hours, Case Mix Index (CMI), Patient Days, Paramedic runs, LOS, and LWOBS, to name a few.
We started supporting our customers to develop reports from all business aspects for all seven of their hospitals. Some of the critical KPIs handled in this engagement include Payor Mix, DNFB, Patient Revenue, CAUTI, Grants and Government subsidies, Operating Income, Capitation Revenue and Expenses, Satisfaction Scores, and so on.
Solution Benifits
The completed dashboard displays the forecasted and actual figures for each KPI defined. The data displayed was by month or year-to-date, allowing administrators to see the big picture and determine if the objectives are being met and also able to generate reports within a few clicks.
