Challenges Faced by the Client
With no mode of tracking vessel productivity, the client couldn’t assess the operational performance against its optimum/expected target, which led to poor vessel management at terminals. To progress toward prompt vessel movement and go beyond timeliness standards, an efficient reporting system expected the client to interact with and analyze the crucial operational factors contributing to vessel movements.
Solutions
UBTI’s Power BI team was able to identify and analyze all the factors that contribute to vessel movement. Then we interacted with their Terminal Operating System (TOS) to break down vessel productivity by time period, which was then integrated into the dashboard.
The time consumption between the loading and unloading and the moves that consumed the retention of loads aided in the assessment of both gross and net vessel productivity.
The enhanced tracking of motives behind the vessel moves helped to understand the workflow better, and the calculation of circumstances that delayed/halted the vessel’s moves helped to mitigate Operational Risks.
Overall, the Power BI solution module provided an eagle eye view of the vessel movements with breakdowns that accelerated the coherence of the vessels.
